Like many other e-mail users I get jokes, news articles, chain letters and other promotional “stuff” coming to me from vendors and friends alike. Every now and then I run into an e-mail someone forwards me that just doesn’t sound right – I recently got forwarded an e-mail that claimed that Obama’s Whitehouse was now calling their Christmas Tree a “Holiday Tree” – you can imagine the panic that would ensue… This is one of the many hoaxes circulating at any one time.

A great resource to verify if something you heard is true or not – is a web service called Snopes @ www.Snopes.com. Here you can verify information or simply look at what the most recently circulating rumors / hoaxes are – this list is updated daily…
